Robert Jenkins began his work as a primary school teacher at Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth. After five years there he became head of Glandwr and Cilgerran schools in Pembrokeshire before returning to Ceredigion as Headteacher of Cardigan Primary School in January 2009. During this time the school saw a change of language category to a Welsh medium school. In 2013 he was seconded to work as a Challenge Adviser before taking up his current post as Headteacher of Ysgol Bro Teifi in September 2015. He has also inspected with Estyn, first as a Peer Inspector before qualifying as a Registered Inspector in 2014
Ysgol Bro Teifi offers first-class learning facilities for all pupils, from the youngest to the oldest. This is the first purpose-built Welsh-medium all-through school built in Wales, following an investment of £25m from Ceredigion County Council and the Assembly Government.
