Bio

I am fortunate enough to have been appointed Headteacher of Ysgol Cwm Brombil in 2017. Previously I spent most of my educational career in and 11-18 school in Bridgend and plied my trade as a Biology teacher. My main route to leadership was through the Pastoral system and I spent many years working closely with pupils as a Head of Year. It is a pleasure to have the responsibility to work with so many dedicated members of staff in positively shaping the futures for students in Port Talbot.

Ysgol Cwm Brombil

Our new school is not just the creation of a building that houses a primary and a secondary phase, but the development of a truly inclusive school community that allows pupils to continue their learning journey from the age of 3 to the age of 16. This journey will allow us to equip the students with the appropriate skills to become lifelong learners and make positive future choices.

The ambition of the school is to secure the academic attainment and personal enrichment of all pupils within a supportive and inclusive culture.  The School provides a dynamic and purposeful learning environment, which aids in fostering a creative, intellectual and social confidence in all pupils.  All staff within the school are very proud that they provide a happy and caring environment where pupils feel safe and secure. We are committed to realising the potential of every child within a school environment that values personal discipline, courtesy, respect and academic excellence. As a result, we find that our pupils are articulate, courteous and proud of the role they play within their community.

In addition to providing a high quality learning experience, all children are encouraged to participate in a wide range of cultural, musical and sporting activities.

Our core purpose is to inspire and enable young people to make a positive difference to society. We do this with a single-minded focus on the power of learning to transform lives. To learn effectively we believe in the value of:

  • aspiration and ambition;
  • acting as role models and encouraging others to succeed;
  • a desire and appetite to learn new things;
  • challenging ourselves so that we all push out of our comfort zone;
  • developing resilience and character – viewing setbacks and mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow;
  • being confident to seek and respond positively to feedback
